Hair growth!!!

Hi girlies!

I'm desperately seeking for a good advice! :)

Back in spring I had to cut my hair short (it was pretty much damaged by a bad skilled hair specialist who couldn't blonde me carefully). I was desperate and if you remember I had to opt for hair extensions for my wedding day :(

Now after four months of cherishing and extreme care my hair is down my shoulders... but not more!!! And I'm used to having it almost up to my waistline... ohhh...
I'm using Kerastase shampoos and Leonor Greyl energising complex now and they help. But I started only a month ago and it's hard to speak about the results so far.

So - do you know any good recipes (let them be handmade, I'm not against applying mayonnaise to me hair lolol) to make my hair grow faster?.. I think I'm stuck at 0,5 inch per month.
I'll be happy to hear any advice you suggest - handmade, professional, anything!... :)

Thanks in advance - you future-to-be-long-haired-mermaid Irene
ROFLMAO

Hi Irene!

Ohh my god, so sorry to hear your hair was messed up :( I know what that's like!! Now my hair line is almost at my uhhhh...*blush* butt!
*giggles* The only thing I did and do is wash it twice a week with shampoo and the rest of the days just with water! At least that is what my current hairdresser told me ;) Sounds ugly maybe, but that is what I did when my hair was messed up!! Ohh and brush it twice a day ;) Hope it all workes out for you and soon you have your gorgeous hair back!!

Good luck!! Hugs Natascha

tell you the best thing in the world to do to make your hair and nails grow, take Prenatal vitamins! yes the one the doctor tells you to take when you are pregnant! works like a charm!

I agree with SuziQ--you need to make sure you're getting enough vitamins and also *protein*. Actually, I'm not sure but I think maybe a 1/2 inch a month isn't bad as long as the new growth is super healthy. Good luck--keep us posted!

There are vitamins you can take special for hair and nails that would help tremendously. Just be sure and get the good quality type. Not cheap type.

I had to have a hysterectomy and my hair fell out like crazy. The vitamins helped a great deal.

What SuzyQ in Texas said... Prenatal vitamins... works well for fingernails and hair

Someone told me to eat gelatin, to help nail and hair growth, or take gelatin capsules. I've never tried it so I have no idea if it works. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear of your hair trouble... I don't know if it makes it grow any faster, but my dermatologist says to take Biotin (sp?) and it will be thicker and stronger. He also said that it is good for the finger nails and scalp. I find that it makes my hair feel softer and smoother. I have not taken it long, so can't comment about growing faster. It is in the vitamin area of the store.

Good luck with your situation.

Vodka! I use that on my hair to make it grow. Pouring it on hair not taking internally. Although if you drink it might help too. :)

Also look at a farms almanac and trim it on days that they say cut grass to make it grow. It works for hair also. Oct 21st was a good day to cut hair to make it grow faster. The next good days are Oct 25, 26, 27, 29, and 30th. check this link often Look at "Best Days" the info on "Cut Hair to Increase Growth" are there. http://www.farmersalmanac.com/best_days/month

But Vodka seems to help -

Sorry, swetheart...
I've been there. Some real bad advice on hairstyle, and you've had it. But there is no miracle receipe for hair growth, just patience. Look after your hair by eating well and avoiding the well- known stuff like cheap brushes and hair bands, thats all I can say.

I donated hair about 6 months ago and felt the same way! It's weird to have shorter hair when you are used to it being waist length.

I called up my ob and asked her to give me a subscription for prenatal vitamins. I swear that they make your hair grow faster. Give it a shot!

Good luck! :)

Multi-vitamins!!!! When I take them faithfully my hair grows faster - but I used to have long hair, uct it short and then it would not grow past my shoulders Could be it is just that your hair follicles have changed.

Prenatal vitamins are indeed great for hair growth. My hair grew longer and was healthier when I was on them. I didn't drink milk or eat a lot of dairy and so my OB-GYN prescribed 2 per day with both my babies. My mom was a hairdresser for over 35 years and she swears that a little trim of the ends promotes hair growth. A slight trim on the days from the Almanac would definately be the best! Best of luck!

We have hair and nail tablets that work wonders for promoting healthy hair and nails, many different kinds available.
I am not 100% sure that prenatal vits do it as just being preggers makes for great hair and nails.

I agree about the pre natal vitamins Irene. Also its vital to have a good 'trim' of the ends of your hair every 6 to eight weeks to prevent split ends, promote healthy hair growth and keep your hair looking its best. I know that seems like you'd be cutting off what you just grew but honestly, it encourages good growth. I used to be a hair stylist and this is the best way to promote good healthy hair growth. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have lovely long hair in no time at all. ;)

Here is my advice and I see alot of the others are telling you the same so you know it must work...lol
I have been there before sweetie and it sucks. I had to have all of my hair cut off because it was damaged so bad. :(

Ok, here are my few suggestions and I can vouch for these. Eating properly like lots of proteins and veggies is great. There is a shampoo called Mane n' Tail that is great, but taking prenatal vitamins usually helps alot too.You are probably thinking Ummmmm, I am not pregnant, but that is ok they are still great for women to take. They are good for hair and nail growth. ;) Hope this helps some. Do I get a cookie now...hehehe...just kidding. Good luck with the hair growing. I am getting ready to chop mine off too bad I cannot give you some. ;)

Hugs,
Erika

Irene,
My hair grows really really fast.
I only wash it with shampoo once or twice a week and almost never use a blow dryer or curling iron on it. Once a month I pour beer on it before washing. If you think your hair will be too dirty only washing twice a week...Wash it in the hottest water you can stand to open up the pores in your scalp then rinse it in the coldest water you can stand to close the pores. Brush often with a soft bristle brush like they make for babies to distribute the oils all the way through the hair and it won't look dirty at all.
prenatal vitamins & extra protein in your diet should help too

Not only taking prenatal vitamins, but actually getting pregant helps your hair grow! LOL so if you want another baby, now is the time, your hair will grow like crazy! :) Good luck Irene, I know how frustrating it is to recover from a traumatic hairdo!

Hi, Hun...Folic Acid is what is in Pre-Natal Vitamins and it does cause your hair & nails to grow, so if you already take a daily vitamin, you should be able to get Folic Acid supplements to add to that. If you don't, then you could start taking the Pre-Natal's :) Also, you should know that vigorous daily brushing can cause damage, not promote growth - it's a myth. Drink lot's of water, too. You might do some research on what foods are good for skin & hair. Hope this helps you! Oddly enough, I just recently cut off 12 inches of my hair & donated it to locks of love - it's about the same length as yours is now. It was so heavy I was getting headaches and neck strain, lol.
Hugz!

Irene, just remember that your hair changes it's growning cycles about every 7 years -- so that means that if your hair grew fast it might slow down -- also it might not grow as long [fortunately I don't have that problem!!]

There is even a "hair wizard" where you can upload your photo and see yourself with different hairstyles - fun!

Irene ... eat loads of gelatin. To avoid the store-bought, SUGARRY Jello dessert stuff, just buy plain, tasteless gelatin and mix it into a hot drink. (and drink it quickly....)

Soups that start with bones and have bones stewed in them are also a great source of gelatin. Doesn't really matter what kind, but ox-tail soup is my fav!

It looks like you have some great advice already. My hubby who did hair for 14 years tells me that keeping it trimmed well is one of the best secrets. The "crack" in the hair can travel up the shaft, so If you don't get all of it, your hair will continue to be damaged and tough to grow. Vitamins will help, but the peak growth time is during the warm months.
I understand the importance and dangers of being "blonde", been there, do that! Just hang in there, you'll be long and full again!
What about posting pics every 3 months or so. That way we can all follow your progress!!

Peppermint Shampoo, make sure you take time to massage it into your scalp. It stimulates your scalp and promotes hair growth, I worked at a Salon and we had a few clients that had undergone Chemo and had either no hair, or extremely thin hair, and the change was amazing once they started using the peppermint shampoo!
hope all goes well!

4 words: extra virgin olive oil. Take a spray bottle, 1/2 EVOO and 1/2 water. Water into your hair as a moisturizer. It does wonders. Also you can go to a beauty/hair supply store and buy the olive oil hair oil sprays. One I use is by Dr. Palmer and it smells really good too.
